I tried to read some more yesterday during lunch, but I kept getting interrupted (my week for help desk).

Henry, your story seemed very much the same as the little I read of Princess. It fit in perfectly. Old style phrasing, a sprinkling of "thus", sword play, jumping over people, gallantry. There was only one sentence that I had to read over a couple of times, because there was something that bothered me. "Tars Tarkas flagged not in his pursuit, either." It was the word "either." It just didn't belong there.

However, I noticed you didn't have as many long words as ERB, and the words got shorter as the story progressed. ERB's long words were very noticeable as I was trying to pay attention to his style. I knew what they meant, but I just never use them in conversation, and I don't think I use them in writing either. I would have found it very difficult to write in that style, so I applaud you for accomplishing that so well.

I'm voting for Henry.Arisianoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-172555520574028929.post-87763232168564352542009-05-09T11:12:00.001-05:002009-05-09T11:12:00.001-05:00Henry, <span style="color: #999999;"&...Henry, John Carter and the Bronze Men in Mars is just brilliant.
