Ruminations of an Old Goat
In just a little while, I'll be taking my wife to the hospital for what is expected to be about a one week stay. She'll be receiving treatment for myelodisplastic syndrome (MDS), a serious, relatively rare disorder in which the patient's immune system attacks their bone marrow. It was this syndrome that led to Audrey's hospitalization while the Boy and I were at Dragon*Con. The time I would usually have spent writing this column was spent, instead, with my family.
